The Root Gazette Africa Magazine continues its political insight series “Engaging Political Figures: The Road to 2027, Your Stake and Prospect Asiwaju or New Candidate?” In this edition, we had a candid conversation with Alhaji (Com.) Yusuf Oladunjoye Bankole Olatunde, a respected community leader and political stakeholder from Lagos State, who shared his views on Nigeria’s evolving political landscape and the road ahead.

Can we meet you, sir?

My name is Alhaji (Com.) Yusuf Oladunjoye Bankole Olatunde.

I was born into the family of High Chief Olatunde Joseph (Onisalu of Ilogbo-Eremi Kingdom, Ilogbo-Eremi, Badagry Local Government, Olorunda LCDA, Lagos State).

I am a proud Muslim and a dedicated advocate for good governance, community growth, and national unity.

As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections, how would you describe the current political climate and the direction of our democracy?

From all indications, Nigeria is undergoing a very desirable transformation, driven by the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This vision has given the nation a new sense of direction and confidence that our democracy is growing stronger.

I believe the 2027 elections will be peaceful, transparent, and successful, by God’s grace. We have seen the President embark on great developmental projects the construction of the Lagos Sokoto Road, Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway, and the introduction of the Students Loan Scheme, among others. These are visible achievements that set this administration apart from previous ones.

What are your views on the performance and policies of the current administration so far?

There are numerous ongoing projects that bring real relief to Nigerians. The Students Loan Scheme, for instance, is a remarkable initiative that will make higher education more accessible and meaningful for young people.

President Tinubu is laying a solid foundation for long-term growth. His projects cut across infrastructure, education, economy, and national unity. If we begin to list them all, the story would be too extensive but one thing is certain: this administration is focused on rebuilding Nigeria with purpose and passion.

Should Nigerians continue to place their confidence in established figures like Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, or should we embrace new political voices?

In my honest opinion, Nigerians should mobilize massively for President Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.

His Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan; it is a structured blueprint that is already positioning Nigeria for greatness.

We are witnessing transformation in key areas of development that will soon place Nigeria alongside advanced nations.

Personally, I have joined other committed stakeholders in mobilizing support for his second term because we believe the journey to a better Nigeria has already begun and must not be interrupted.

Finally, what message would you like to share with Nigerians as we approach 2027?

I want to encourage every Nigerian to remain hopeful and patient. Let us give our full support to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he continues the work of rebuilding this nation.

He is a leader with vision and commitment the right man for the job.

Like the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

Rebuilding and reforming a nation is a gradual process that requires patience, unity, and faith.

Past administrations left behind many challenges, but we now have a leader determined to restore Nigeria’s glory. With collective effort and understanding, we will all enjoy the true dividends of democracy.

For me, Tinubu’s reelection is not just a desire it is a national duty. And we must all work diligently to make it a reality.
