In a historic event, Badagry played host to the Diaspora 4th Door of Return, organized by the African Renaissance Foundation in collaboration with the Nigeria Diaspora Commission. This festival garnered immense support from Lagos State Governor, BABAJIDE OLUSOLA SANWOOLU, showcasing the significance of reconnecting with the African diaspora.
The festival saw the esteemed presence of Dr. Julius Marcus Garvey Jr., serving as the special guest of honor, alongside numerous state executives. This gathering was a testament to the global resonance of the Door of Return initiative.
The impact of this event has been profound, as Badagry has been chosen as the site for the forthcoming World's African Trade Slave Museum. This momentous decision was endorsed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr. Julius Marcus Garvey Jr., solidifying Badagry's position as a beacon of historical significance.
